Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group has been providing expert diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries since 1988. The practice operates in Carmel, Newburgh, Mount Kisco, Fishkill (NY) and Danbury (CT), and hosts a multi‑specialty Orthopaedic & Specialty Surgery Center in Danbury.
Responsibilities
Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations of patients, including medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests, to assist in diagnosing orthopedic conditions.
Treatment Planning: Collaborate with the orthopedic surgeon to develop treatment plans, which may include surgical intervention, non‑surgical treatments, and rehabilitation strategies.
Assist in Surgery: Participate in orthopedic surgeries by assisting the surgeon, performing specific tasks, and ensuring patient safety and comfort during procedures.
Post‑Operative Care: Provide post‑operative care to patients, including wound care, monitoring recovery progress, and adjusting treatment plans as needed.
Prescribe Medications: Prescribe medications, including pain management drugs and antibiotics, as part of the treatment plan.
Perform Injections and Procedures: Administer joint injections, aspirations, and other minor procedures under the supervision of the orthopedic surgeon.
Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about orthopedic conditions, treatment options, and post‑operative care instructions.
Order and Interpret Tests: Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as X‑rays, MRI scans, and laboratory tests, to aid in diagnosis and monitoring of patients.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date medical records, documenting patient encounters, treatments, and progress.
Handle Administrative Tasks: Manage administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, responding to patient inquiries, and assisting with billing and insurance matters.
Education & Training
State licensure to practice in NYS and Connecticut.
2+ years’ experience in orthopedics preferred.
Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication
Excellent attention to detail
Knowledge of diagnostic equipment and procedures
Good interpersonal skills
Critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills
Ability to move and manipulate patients
Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
Computer literacy
This position may require travel between Danbury and our NY locations (Mt. Kisco, Carmel, Fishkill, Newburgh).
Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 per year.
