Overview
The City of Detroit Lakes is seeking a dynamic Economic Development Director to lead efforts that drive business growth, attract investment, and expand housing and workforce opportunities. Reporting to the City Administrator/Public Utilities General Manager, this position advances the city’s economic vision.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary liaison between the City, developers, and community partners.
Manage development projects, negotiate financial assistance packages, and oversee TIF, loan, and grant programs.
Conduct market analyses, prepare development agreements, write and administer grants, and promote Detroit Lakes as a progressive, business-friendly community.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in public administration, economics, business, or a related field, plus at least three years of experience in economic or community development. Must demonstrate strong communication, financial, and project management skills.
