Overview
Network Security Engineer Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure and server environments, including LAN/WAN, firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms (e.g. VMware and Hyper-V). Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement correction actions to maintain high availability and reliability. Configure and manage Windows/Linux servers, virtual machines, and cloud services (e.g. Azure). Ensure network and systems security through regular vulnerability assessments, patch management, and incident response. Collaborate with and supervise other IT team members to support end-users and optimize IT infrastructure. Implement and manage backup solutions and disaster recovery protocols. Document network configurations, procedures, and policies to support operational efficiency. Assist with hardware and software installations, upgrades, and system configuration as required. Stay updates on the latest technology trends and recommend upgrades and improvements. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of IT experience. Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), VPNs, and firewall management. Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, virtualization platforms (VMware and Hyper-V), and cloud environments. Knowledge of network security practices and monitoring tools.
