Job purpose The Network & Project Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and support of internal and client-facing network infrastructures, as well as leading and executing technology projects. This role blends advanced networking expertise with strong project execution skills, ensuring solutions are delivered efficiently, securely, and with minimal disruption.
Duties and responsibilities
Design and implement network solutions at the WAN/LAN level, including firewalls, switches, access points, VPNs, and SD-WAN technologies. Lead client infrastructure projects from planning to execution, ensuring proper scope, timelines, and communication. Design and deploy cloud-based infrastructure solutions using Microsoft Azure, AWS, and hybrid environments. Provide tier 3-level support for complex escalations involving connectivity, routing, switching, and infrastructure. Manage network documentation including topology diagrams, IP schemas, VLAN planning, and security configurations. Work with vendors and internal teams to plan upgrades, migrations, and implementations. Deploy and support wireless technologies, VoIP networks, and mobile device management solutions. Assist with onboarding new clients, including discovery, documentation, and environment optimization. Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot networks for performance, reliability, and security issues. Implement and maintain firewall policies, intrusion detection, and advanced endpoint protection. Participate in CAB (Change Advisory Board) and project planning meetings to assess infrastructure impact. Maintain and improve automation and scripting for routine networking tasks (PowerShell, Bash, Python preferred). Create detailed project plans, deployment documentation, and end-user guides. Qualifications
College diploma or university degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, preferably within an MSP environment. Advanced knowledge of networking protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF. Experience with firewall technologies (Fortinet, Sophos, SonicWall, etc.) and security best practices. Familiarity with ConnectWise, ITGlue, and RMM platforms (NinjaOne, Automate, etc.) Strong Microsoft Azure and M365 skills, including networking, identity, and hybrid deployments. Experience designing and executing infrastructure projects, migrations, and upgrades. Understanding of virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), backup, and disaster recovery planning. Ability to create and manage technical documentation and project reports. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interface with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Working conditions
40-hour on-site or hybrid work weeks. Flexibility to work different shifts and have on-call availability as needed and scheduled. Travel may be required for on-site client projects or site surveys. Physical requirements
