Senior Civil Engineer – Energy & Industrial Group
We are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join the Energy & Industrial Group at Sargent & Lundy. The role is located in Lake Mary, FL and is a hybrid schedule requiring in‑office work 3 days per week.
Responsibilities
Utilize and expand your civil engineering degree and skills in a multi‑disciplined team working on power plant projects, substations, transmission lines, and similar industrial systems.
Prepare calculations, designs, and specifications for storm‑water drainage, sanitary sewer, pavement, ponds, landfills, and earthwork to support permitting and design.
Design site layout, grading, drainage systems, roads, trackwork, water storage, wastewater disposal ponds, and solid waste landfills.
Review contractor and material submittal drawings and vendor documentation for conformity with technical specifications.
Coordinate with project managers, client personnel, contractors, suppliers, and permitting agencies to ensure complete and timely design.
Guide other civil engineers and designers on project work when scope and complexity allow.
Travel to client offices for design reviews and site visits for construction coordination and field verification.
Qualifications
B.S. Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
PE license or eligibility to obtain one.
Five or more years of project‑team experience, preferably in power plant design and site grading, mass earthwork, storm‑water management, sanitary and process wastewater systems, and road/railtrack design.
Experience in technical writing for reports, calculations, and specifications.
Experience preparing, submitting, and obtaining site‑related permits from regulatory agencies.
Proficiency with Civil 3D, StormCAD, PondPack, AutoTurn, and MS Office.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team.
May travel occasionally; ability to work in Lake Mary, FL.
Hybrid work schedule: in‑office 3 days/week.

Compensation Range $82,380.00 – $125,860.00
