Overview

Stantec is seeking a safety‑focused leader with field experience (preferably in construction) to supervise construction quality assurance (CQA) at a mine reclamation project in western New Mexico beginning March 2026. This is a full‑time onsite role with a minimum 2‑year commitment, with potential to extend beyond. Qualified candidates will have relevant field experience and a degree in engineering or geology, or relevant work experience meeting job requirements. The role includes leadership, daily interaction with a client, and seeing years of geotechnical engineering and mine reclamation design fully implemented. Your Opportunity

You’ll work onsite daily, directing a team that verifies construction meets design specifications while collaborating with the client and various contractors. Strong leadership of the Stantec CQA field team is essential, with delegation of tasks based on team members’ skills, clear communication, and attention to detail. Responsibilities

Identify problems, deficiencies, and design deviations and develop potential corrective actions; communicate these to the client, construction contractor, and Stantec leadership. Lead and manage the Stantec CQA field team; assign tasks based on skills; ensure timely, accurate reporting and documentation. Attend and lead daily, weekly, and monthly meetings with the client and contractors. Contribute to safety culture on site, track compliance with safe work practices, and adhere to company and client guidelines for safe planning and execution; OSHA HAZWOPER and supervisor training will be required. Coordinate field activities including observations, sample collection, field testing as required, and daily field reports. Review and respond to technical memoranda and RFIs; prepare as‑built reports and other field engineering deliverables. Supervise QA activities including sample collection, gradation analyses, material density testing, and surveying. Interact daily with client management, engineering, and field staff to plan and execute CQA activities. Qualifications

B.S. in engineering or geology; or an associate’s degree in a relevant program with relevant work experience meeting job requirements. 5–6 years of work experience in civil and/or geotechnical engineering projects, including field work, with emphasis on detailed design, site investigation, and technical communication. Preference for mine remediation/reclamation experience and survey experience. Exceptional technical writing, verbal communication, and organizational skills. Strong technical leadership abilities and attention to detail; ability to work independently and make decisions in the field at remote sites. Ability to work with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred. Experience with standard software packages (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat).
