As the only academic medical center in Brooklyn, we serve a diverse population. We are seeking an hourly/per diem TH Medical Radiographer I / CT-MRI Technician. The successful candidate will perform imaging procedures with established protocols and provide patient care.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate the ability to perform all MRI, CT or IR procedures with established protocols, with minimal supervision. Be responsible for patient care while performing imaging, including accuracy of patient identification, correct procedure, and correct laterality. Be able to deal with emergent situations involving patient care issues. Coordinate patient schedules to ensure that procedures are completed promptly. Produce high quality images efficiently regardless of volume; perform exams in accordance with established protocols. Maintain conditions in MRI, CT or IR areas that foster patient safety. Have prior experience with computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and PACS. Complete all exams immediately in RIS and verify on PACS. Burn CDs and DVDs when necessary. Maintain scheduling flexibility as hours may change on an as-needed basis according to departmental operating needs. Adhere to all SUNY Downstate Medical Center and department policies and procedures, including principles of behavior. Maintain the principle of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable). Maintain supplies and check for expired items on a monthly basis. Maintain all patient-related logs (e.g., patient incidents, CTDI vol., infiltrates). Perform daily/weekly/monthly QA on MRI, CT or IR equipment and document findings. Inform supervisor when equipment is offline, including contacting service and recording the service ticket number. Attend department-sponsored in-services related to MRI, CT, IR and departmental issues. Maintain a courteous and pleasant disposition with patients. Adhere to time and attendance policies. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required. Required Qualifications
New York Radiologic Technologist State Licensure. ARRT registration certification. Current BCLS certification. Maintained all required continuing education (CE) for continued certification. Preferred Qualifications
ARRT certified in MRI, CT, or IR. 2+ years of experience in all diagnostic x-ray procedures. DOH injection certification to perform MRI and CT exams. Prior related hospital experience. Work Schedule
