Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active RN license in Ohio or compact state (required)
Minimum 1 year of PCU/Stepdown RN experience (required)
Neuro nursing experience (required)
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (required)
Dysrhythmia Exam (required; study guide provided)
EPIC EHR experience (preferred)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (preferred)
6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital (preferred)
CCRN, PCCN certifications (preferred)
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments; develop individualized care plans
Safely administer medications according to hospital protocols
Coordinate patient care and collaborate across clinical departments
Advocate for patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives
Support patients and families, acting as a liaison with interdisciplinary teams
Manage care for patients with multi-system organ failure or multisystem trauma
Respond to rapidly changing patient conditions with confidence
Conduct hemodynamic monitoring, manage chest tubes, and administer conscious sedation
Deliver compassionate, relationship-based care to patients and families
Maintain professionalism, practice self-care, and foster resilience
