PACU Registered Nurse Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of PACU RN experience, including phase 1 recovery (Post Anesthesia Care Unit jobs)
At least 1 year of ICU nursing experience
Experience caring for pediatric patients (pediatric PACU or general pediatric experience)
Active Compact or Kentucky RN license (required at submission)
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS (PALS may be obtained prior to start)
Proficiency with arterial line management, ventilated patients, conscious sedation, dysrhythmia recognition/management, medication reconciliation, and pre/post Interventional Radiology procedures
Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
Ability to float within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals as needed
1 reference from a charge nurse or supervisor required at submission
COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Local travelers within 75 miles not accepted
PACU RN Responsibilities – Interventional Radiology
Deliver pre-operative and post-operative nursing care for Interventional Radiology patients in the PACU setting
Monitor phase 1 recovery and ICU-level patients, including pediatric and adult cases
Perform and document comprehensive assessments, administer medications, and manage complex patient needs
Respond to rapid response and code situations as needed
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, and Pharmacy
Float to main PACU for patient recovery as required after hours
Participate in call rotation and respond within 1 hour as scheduled
Complete required onboarding and annual competency modules
Provide discharge instructions and ensure safe patient transitions
