As Senior Manager of Enterprise Client Engineering within Walmart Global Tech, you will lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide technology platforms that support laptops, desktops and endpoint management systems. Your role will blend software engineering leadership, systems integration, and vendor strategy to deliver performant, reliable, and secure end-user experiences for hundreds of thousands of employees across a complex global enterprise. You will oversee platform engineering teams responsible for building automation, service interfaces, and tooling that extend third-party device management systems. You’ll also lead initiatives that reduce operational overhead, modernize user experiences, and align directly to Walmart’s digital transformation. Responsibilities
Define and drive the multi-year roadmap for end user platform engineering in alignment with enterprise business and technology goals. Monitor industry trends and enterprise needs to inform the evolution of internal desktop and device platforms. Translate technical strategies into actionable outcomes that support business operations and internal customer needs. Lead systems and software engineering teams in the design and development of internal APIs, services, and automation frameworks that enable configuration and augmentation of device management tools. Oversee the architecture and implementation of solutions that support provisioning, patching, monitoring, compliance enforcement, and secure access. Champion continuous improvement through automation, scripting, and telemetry to reduce manual processes and improve fleet health and visibility. Establish and report on KPIs tied to platform uptime, patch compliance, configuration drift, and user satisfaction. Partner with security, compliance, and audit teams to ensure devices and platforms meet Walmart’s security and governance standards. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet global regulatory and internal controls. Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of systems and software engineers and technical leads with a focus on systems engineering, backend development, and platform architecture. Cultivate a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning; drive adoption of DevOps practices including automated testing, deployment, and observability. Manage relationships with third-party technology vendors and service providers; lead contract evaluations and strategic negotiations; own platform engineering budgets and tooling investments. Qualifications
10+ years of experience in systems and/or software engineering, with 5+ years in a leadership role. Expertise in modern software engineering practices; ability to lead teams across large, multi-language codebases (e.g., Java, Python), emphasizing maintainability and scalable architecture. Experience with CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd). Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure, networking, and system operations. Solid background in Agile methodologies, DevOps, and SRE principles. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Location
