The Transmission Line Engineer / PLS CADD Subject Matter Expert is responsible for managing and executing the design portion of transmission line engineering projects. The ideal candidate would be comfortable in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines and be a proactive and self-motivated employee who is able to think critically and learn concepts quickly.
Responsibilities
Generate transmission line deliverables including route alignment drawings, sag charts, stringing charts, loading diagrams, foundation drawings
Interface with internal and external teams to resolve technical challenges
Provide mentorship and training to less experienced engineers in PLS-CADD and transmission line design
Drive the design aspects of a transmission line project and identify technical challenges
Understand client specifications and design requirements and communicate those to others
Keep up with software and technology trends relating to transmission line design and look for ways to continuously improve the workflow
Occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk, and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or controls
Frequently use close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus
Qualifications
B.S. in Structural/Civil Engineering
Registered Professional Engineer
Structural analysis and design of transmission lines and substation structures up to 345kV
Experience includes new line, rehabilitation, and relocation for projects that traverse varying elevations and urban alleys
Experience includes projects that vary in length from several poles to 20+ miles
Experience includes a variety of structures including monopoles, lattice structures, and guyed towers
Foundation design and steel detailing
Experience with distribution design is a plus
Proficiency with PLS-CADD and affiliated modules including TOWER, PLS-POLE, SAGSEC, CAISSON, and SAPS
