Full-Time / Exempt / Salary WORK LOCATION and HOURS:
Work will be performed from the Dallas, TX office. Hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but may require business needs outside of these times when necessary. Travel:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel can be expected. Primary Responsibility
Safeguard assets and ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments. Able to manage a high volume of transactions. Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, departmental payroll, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting. Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial records for the shareholders. Assure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals. Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, line of services costing, etc. when necessary. Prepare budgets by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data, recommending plans. Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating/recommending corrective actions. Manage commercial banking relationships to facilitate an appropriate credit resource under highly competitive terms. Maximize return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances, making investments. Interface with third parties, i.e. casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and collection agencies, auditors if necessary. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports, advising management on needed actions. Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results. Maintain financial staff job results by coaching, counseling and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. Provide a visionary and leadership implementation role on behalf of Finance and Human Resources to all departments, creating a well-respected and sought after department goal. Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal and professional networks. Other duties as necessary. Principal Accountabilities
Management Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the departments goal and objectives Strong management skills to oversee the accounting team Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures Transactions Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis Maintain the chart of accounts Maintain an orderly accounting filing system Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions Reporting Issue timely and complete financial statements Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual reports Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics Manage the productions of the annual budget and forecast Calculate the variances from the budget report significant issues to management Provide for a system of management cost reports Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations Compliance Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filing Required Skills / Experience Bachelor Degree (B.A.). Mortgage Banking Knowledge preferred; Master’s preferred; seven years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA license is preferred but not required. Knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise. Familiarity with Caseware software system a plus. Characteristics Always present a professional image and demeanor.
