Overview

The Courtroom Clerk is responsible for preparing and organizing essential documents for court proceedings, including witness and exhibit lists, tag logs, and other forms required in the courtroom. This role involves setting up the courtroom for daily operations, ensuring that all files, equipment, and documents are ready for trial, and posting the daily courtroom calendar. The clerk also manages the coordination of court participants, including swearing in parties and witnesses, directing counsel and witnesses to ensure a clear record, and monitoring the CourtSmart recorder for accurate audio documentation. In addition, the clerk is responsible for entering data into CourtView, filing and processing documents, and securing exhibits and case files at the end of each day. Other tasks include lodging documents for signature, calendaring future hearings, and ensuring that the courtroom is properly maintained throughout the trial. This position requires familiarity with court procedures, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with courtroom technology and software. Responsibilities

Coordinate court participants, including swearing in parties and witnesses, directing counsel and witnesses to ensure a clear record. Monitor the CourtSmart recorder for accurate audio documentation. Enter data into CourtView, filing and processing documents, and secure exhibits and case files at the end of each day. Lodge documents for signature, calendar future hearings, and maintain the courtroom throughout the trial. Demonstrate familiarity with court procedures, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with courtroom technology and software. Qualifications

Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND one year of office clerical experience AND the ability to keyboard at least 40 words per minute (net). Substitution: Additional office clerical work experience may substitute for the high school diploma or GED on a month-for-month basis. Completion of 36 semester credit hours or 48 quarter credit hours of coursework from an accredited college will substitute for the year of required office clerical experience. Completion of an appropriate vocational training course of study such as legal secretary, paralegal, or office skills will substitute for the required office clerical experience on a month-for-month basis. Keyboarding Certification Required: Attach a keyboarding certification (dated within one year) showing a speed of 40 wpm or higher (net). Online keyboarding tests are accepted with a valid website address noted on the document. Acceptable websites include ratatype and typingtest. Tests are available at Alaska Job Center locations. Full-time court employees are scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. The Working Environment You Can Expect:
