We are searching for a motivated and experienced Revenue Assistant Controller to enhance our dynamic finance team. This pivotal role involves overseeing and optimizing revenue recognition processes in a fast-paced cryptocurrency landscape. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of ASC 606 (or IFRS 15), strong analytical skills, and a profound interest in the digital asset space. You will ensure the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting as we diversify our innovative offerings, build scalable processes, and implement effective internal controls.
What You'll Be Doing
Leading the application of ASC 606/IFRS 15 for complex crypto-native transactions, such as spot trading fees, staking rewards, and NFT royalties.
Developing and maintaining comprehensive revenue recognition and reporting workflows tailored for crypto products and services.
Ensuring timely and accurate revenue transaction recording in line with GAAP/IFRS and company policies.
Overseeing month-end and quarter-end closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Collaborating with product, engineering, and data teams to ascertain appropriate revenue accounting practices for new product launches.
Identifying and implementing enhancements to revenue systems, processes, and controls by leveraging blockchain data and automation tools.
Implementing and monitoring internal controls over revenue cycles to ensure SOX compliance and mitigate risks.
Supporting internal and external audit inquiries while staying abreast of evolving accounting standards and crypto industry best practices.
Managing and mentoring the Revenue team to foster interdepartmental collaboration and develop junior team members.
Leading or participating in special projects linked to financial infrastructure, new product initiatives, and strategic goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
CPA certification required.
A minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 4-5 years focused on revenue recognition (ASC 606/IFRS 15) in a financial institution.
Proven ability to interpret and apply complex accounting principles to real-world scenarios, especially in a rapidly evolving industry.
Strong analytical skills to distill complex data into actionable insights.
Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with a knack for simplifying complex accounting concepts for non-finance audiences.
Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and adeptness at managing numerous priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Experience with SOX compliance within a financial services context.
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel capabilities; experience with data visualization tools is a plus.
Nice to Have
Experience within a high-growth startup or technology company.
Familiarity with specific crypto accounting software or blockchain analytics tools.
Experience relating to international revenue recognition and foreign currency considerations.
A deep understanding and hands-on experience with digital assets, blockchain technology, and cryptocurrency markets, including familiarity with various crypto protocols, DeFi concepts, and common digital asset use cases.

Pay Range: $201,365 - $236,900 USD. Full-time employment with Coinbase also includes a target bonus, equity package, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
