Apex is seeking a
Junior Missile Defense System Assessment Engineer
to join our team and support one of the most critical missions in national security. This role involves advanced modeling and simulation (M&S) technologies that assess threats, sensors, interceptors, and communications for the Missile Defense System (MDS). What You’ll Do
Perform verification, validation, and accreditation (VV&A) analysis on physics-based Core Truth Models for signatures, environments, and lethality.
Develop data analysis code to assess hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) and digital models against requirements.
Research technical papers to understand physical theory and mathematical equations behind MDS models.
Establish VV&A evidence by comparing modeled data to referent data for sensors, threats, and interceptors.
Serve as a primary point of contact for team integration efforts, including preparing and presenting evidence plans and reports.
What You Bring
Education & Experience: BS in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related STEM field; 3+ years of relevant experience.
Clearance: Active Secret clearance.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python preferred).
Basic knowledge of VV&A processes and ability to analyze existing code and collaborate with software developers and accreditation agents.
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of radar principles and models.
Knowledge of hypersonic and cruise missile behavior/performance.
Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
