Position Overview

The Department of Social Work in the College of Health & Public Service invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position. We welcome applicants from all areas of research specialization within social work and are particularly interested in scholars whose work complements and enhances existing departmental strengths. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to research excellence and maintain an active, externally fundable research agenda. Preference will be given to candidates whose scholarship aligns with or expands upon the department’s established areas of expertise, including integrated health, behavioral and mental health, interpersonal violence, aging and older adults, and poverty. We are especially interested in applicants who can contribute to collaborative grant development, particularly in partnership with healthcare and public sector initiatives. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate instruction in the BSW program, teaching across the generalist curriculum in both traditional and online/hybrid formats. Service responsibilities include engagement at the department, program, college, university, and professional levels. The position offers opportunities to shape the future of the BSW program, support curriculum innovation, and foster research-informed practice within social work communities. This role requires in-person work at UNT’s Denton campus. Minimum Qualifications A Master’s in social work from a Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program and Ph.D. in social work or a related field; Evidence showing the ability to establish a strong research record and/or to attract extramural funding; Demonstrated commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service; Minimum of two years of full-time professional post-MSW practice experience. Note: Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role. Preferred Qualifications Social work licensure; Potential to teach graduate-level courses; Experience with online/hybrid/remote instruction.
