Join HII as we keep the world's most powerful Navy afloat. We are seeking a Marine Mechanic technician for the Surface Enhance Capability Program (SECAP) who will assist ship's force personnel with conducting maintenance onboard U.S. Naval Vessels. This technician conducts troubleshooting and repairs on HM&E systems, specifically hydraulics, valve and pump maintenance for installed systems: Main Drainage, AFFF, Counter Measure Washdown (CMWD), and Fire-main systems. Maintenance of Auxiliaries equipment includes: HP and LP Air systems, Trash room equipment, Hydraulic equipment, and AC&R equipment. This is a full-time, hourly position located in San Diego, CA. What You Will Do
Assess, train, and assist in the repair of shipboard Auxiliaries equipment, hydraulics, pumps and valves on DC and engineering systems, AC&R equipment with shipboard personnel. Utilize an "On Hands" approach/technique specific to the Sailor's individual strengths to benefit the Sailor as well as the command. Assist Ships force in identifying proper materials and manuals necessary to make repairs to shipboard systems. May provide direction and lead others. May manage one or more job(s). Performs duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignments. What You Must Have
High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience. Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty. Must have mechanical experience troubleshooting and repairing U.S. Navy Ships. Must be able to obtain and maintain DBIDS (Base Access). Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance. Preferred
Prefer technical/professional certifications. A current, valid DoD Security Clearance. Air Conditioning and Refrigeration EPA certification is a plus. Prior US Navy experience with Hydraulic experience is a plus. Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States. Benefits and Considerations
