Overview
The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Public Buildings Division seeks a Senior Project Manager. The selected candidate will manage complex capital commitment projects; review proposed projects to determine how and when the work should be performed; work with Sponsor Agencies from project inception to ensure an understanding of each project’s scope and vision; and oversee each project from conception to construction completion and close-out of the finished structure. Reporting to the Deputy/Program Director, responsibilities include generating cost estimates, developing deliverable dates and schedules, supervising design, construction management and staff, resolving construction or design issues, and negotiating with contractors and vendors. The role also involves processing change orders and project estimates, ensuring safety and on-schedule completion, generating reports, attending meetings, overseeing contractor performance, and supervising Project Managers and Junior Project Managers. Responsibilities
Manage complex capital projects from inception to close-out, including scope definition and scheduling.
Generate cost estimates and deliverable dates to guide bidding and project timelines.
Supervise, coordinate, and direct design, construction management, and construction staff; resolve design or construction issues.

Minimum Qualifications
One year of full-time supervisory experience in project management on engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects, or supervising a construction project with a value of $1,000,000 or more, and either:
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration, and one year of related project management experience; or
A four-year high school diploma or educational equivalent and five years of related experience; or
A four-year high school diploma or educational equivalent plus combinations of college/experience to total five years; with allowable credits for certain advanced degrees or licenses as described (one year of experience credit per specified criteria).
In addition to meeting the initial qualification requirements, candidates must have at least one additional year of supervisory experience or at least one year as a project manager for a large/complex construction project. There are also pathways for additional years of experience to meet higher assignment levels.
Preferred Skills
At least six years of experience in complex design and construction project management, including schedule and cost management.
Strong ability to manage multiple multi-trade projects on schedule with excellent organizational, computer, verbal, and written communication skills.
