Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Transmission Line Engineer to support the design, analysis, and development of high‑voltage transmission line projects. This role will focus on delivering reliable, safe, and cost‑effective transmission solutions, supporting both greenfield and brownfield infrastructure programs. The engineer will collaborate closely with structural, civil, and electrical engineering teams to ensure everything will comply with company, client, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and review transmission line design packages, including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, material lists, and specifications.
Perform engineering calculations for structure loading, conductor tensioning, clearances, and foundation design using software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and PLS-Tower.
Conduct route selection studies, environmental assessments, and constructability reviews to optimize line routing and design efficiency.
Coordinate across civil, electrical, and structural teams to ensure alignment on project scope, milestones, and deliverables.
Review field data, survey results, and geotechnical information to ensure design accuracy and safety compliance.
Support construction and commissioning phases by providing technical guidance, RFIs, and design clarifications.
Ensure compliance with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and client‑specific standards.
Prepare project documentation including calculations, design reports, and bill of materials.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
5+ years of experience in transmission line engineering, design, or construction support.
Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and related transmission design software.
Working knowledge of industry codes and standards (NESC, ASCE 10, ASCE 48, IEEE, etc.).
Strong understanding of transmission structures, conductor systems, hardware assemblies, and grounding design.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multi‑disciplinary teams.
EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Prior experience working with utilities, EPC firms, or transmission owners/operators strongly preferred.
