Position details . The DHS, Division of Aging Services (DAS) - Adult Protective Services (APS), is seeking candidates for the position of
Adult Protective Services Case Manager 3 – (Investigator Lead) . This position is located in Cleveland, White County, Georgia and will cover the additional counties of Banks, Franklin, Hall, Hart, & Stephens. Travel throughout these counties is required as part of this position. Pay Grade:
K Responsibilities
Under broad supervision, perform initial investigations of reports of abuse/neglect or exploitation for cases meeting APS criteria and determine appropriate interventions within a standard of promptness. May serve as a Lead Worker. Evaluate the level of risk to clients and take appropriate action to ensure safety. Provide follow-up, consultations and other applicable resources to stabilize the situation and prevent further recurrence of abuse/neglect/exploitation. Initiate the legal process for guardianship as a last resort for the protection of incapacitated adults. Maintain required documentation and complete reports within standards of promptness. Maintain knowledge of current policies, laws, trends and developments in the field by attending training sessions and meetings. Perform other professional responsibilities as assigned. Additional duties for APS Investigator – Lead Worker
Perform administrative duties for the Regional Supervisor(s) and provide case consultation to staff. Assist staff in resolving problems and provide guidance on decision making and policy questions/clarifications. Conduct a minimum of three peer reviews per quarter for quality assurance and identify training needs for the region based on review findings. Ensure necessary job-related instruction for staff, including mentoring as needed. Participate in interview processes for vacant positions as needed. Monitor adherence to office policies and practices; inform the District Manager of problem cases or higher-level situations. Provide on-the-job training and mentorship; plan and organize unit work in the supervisor’s absence to meet organizational objectives. Delegate, assign, and prioritize work; approve leave in consultation with the District Manager. Communicate organizational goals to staff; monitor progress and productivity; evaluate programs and procedures as directed. Address or resolve problems between clients and staff; serve as the primary Community Outreach/Education liaison for the unit. Make presentations to community groups to raise awareness and support; represent the APS unit on multi-disciplinary teams and other community groups; act as liaison for DAS Forensic Unit’s ACT training. Exhibit excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and standard office software. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year related experience; OR two (2) years of experience at the APS Case Manager 2 level or equivalent. Preferred Skills/Qualifications
2 years’ experience as an APS Investigator. Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services program. Experience with issues facing client populations such as family violence, crisis intervention, substance abuse, or services to the elderly or disabled. Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for required work-related activities. Additional Information
