Postdoctoral Fellow, Biomimetronics (Forro Group - Biohub Chicago) The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Chicago is an independent nonprofit research institute that brings together Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign into a collaborative technology and discovery engine. CZ Biohub Chicago supports engineers, data scientists, and biomedical researchers to make breakthroughs in medicine and develop new technologies, often in collaboration with our partner universities. Our values include scholarly excellence, disruptive innovation, hands-on engineering and building, partnership and collaboration, open communication and respect, inclusiveness, and opportunity for all.

Overview This is a high-impact opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow with experience in electrochemistry to join a dynamic team and play a critical role in creating cutting-edge instrumentation. In this role, you will help develop custom measurement hardware to enable fast, multiplexed electrochemistry.

The Opportunity

This role involves working independently on instrument design and interfacing with the broader team to stress-test devices and capture all requirements. Attention to detail, initiative, and relationship-building will directly contribute to team success.

What You'll Do

Develop a SMD compact potentiostat with the capacity to perform chronoamperometry (1 microsecond resolution), EIS, CV and SWV, ranging from 100 pA to 10 µA.

Perform SPICE simulations to narrow down component selection and account for PCB parasitics.

Create PCB layouts, source components, and assemble the boards.

Conduct full-suite electrical characterization of the board (network analyzer, noise characterization, transfer function measurements) and run a battery of standardized electrochemistry tests.

Adapt a Teensy-like board to drive voltage and acquisition alongside the potentiostat.

What You'll Bring

Three years of experience in electrochemical measurements.

Strong understanding of electrical engineering.

Ability to use simulation tools to improve board-design turnaround time.

Familiarity with board layout software like KiCad, Altium, etc.

Compensation The Chicago, IL base pay range for a new hire in this role is $84,150.
