Overview
West Hollywood Elementary School – Principal, Elementary. The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Principal, Elementary to lead the students, staff, and community at West Hollywood Elementary School towards academic success. West Hollywood Elementary serves about 300 students in grades TK-5th grade, including a Resource Specialist program and enrichment classes funded by the parent booster group. The school’s demographics include 5.6% African American, 9.2% Asian, 17.2% Hispanic, 59.9% White, and 8.1% Other Ethnicities, with approximately 7.12% English Learners, 7.5% students with disabilities, and over 20% identified as Gifted and Talented. The school is located at 970 North Hammond Street, West Hollywood, CA 90069. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about Common Core State Standards, LAUSD School Leadership Framework, LAUSD Teaching and Learning Framework, English Learner Master Plan, Special Education, and the District’s Strategic Plan; capable of supervising and evaluating the instructional program and facilitating professional development; able to collaborate with all stakeholders and demonstrate professionalism and respectful interactions; willing to delegate responsibilities as they relate to the school’s climate and committee structure; possess strong planning and organizational skills; able to work independently and manage time effectively; able to multi-task while meeting commitments and deadlines; able to interpret data to inform decisions and develop action plans for continuous and sustainable school budgets; and able to support a successful positive school-wide behavior plan. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of computer science, digital citizenship, and the ISTE standards; believe in a multidisciplinary approach; and support the arts, sciences, and technology. The candidate must be willing to work collaboratively with staff, parent groups (Friends of West Hollywood), and the community, and promote and model the school’s values. Salary
Salary: 40G - E Basis ($123,618 - $153,961) – 234 paid days. For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit. For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment). Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations. Required Experience (public School Setting)
Eight years of successful full-time public school district certificated service A minimum of three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 program A minimum of two years of experience in an elementary school Two years of service in a position that required and utilized an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and/or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice. A valid California teaching credential requiring a Bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching A valid California Administrative Services Credential Multicultural coursework* Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university District Master Plan requirements* Candidates have one year to complete this requirement For all school-based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program. Application Procedure
