Part-Time Assistant Manager, IU Dining and Hospitality at Indiana University. Schedule and supervise employees and customer service; oversee the preparation and service of meals. Participate in purchasing/production, including managing menus and orders, directing stores attendants, and overseeing the receiving process. Collaborate with the Retail Area Manager or location General Manager on budget preparation and monitoring, inventory control, preparation and analysis of financial reports, guest service, and coordination of special events and conferences. Rotate weekly, monthly, and seasonal promotions and assist with brand management. Represent the dining unit management team in the absence of the general manager and/or assistant managers. May be responsible for tasks related to people leadership, floor management, and purchasing/production, or may concentrate in one area as required by the operation, per department needs. Work alongside frontline staff to meet operational needs during short staffing or high-volume service periods. Hire and schedule staff, assist in the corrective action process for part-time staff, purchase product and monitor inventory, and assume responsibility for managing a dining unit in the absence of an appointed unit lead. Qualifications
Education : General knowledge at the high school level. Work Experience : 1 year of food service supervisory experience. Licenses and Certifications : Food Safety (ServSafe Manager) certification within 180 days from date of hire. Skills : Knowledge of institutional food preparation equipment operation and maintenance; knowledge and practice of department standards for personal hygiene, health and safety, and uniform wear; knowledge of standards as described in employee handbooks and department postings; ability to read and interpret recipes, worksheets, and menus; strong communication skills. Working conditions and physical requirements
This role requires tasks typically associated with back-of-house food service work and cleaning/ware-washing. It involves sedentary work and periods of frequent movement in the workspace. Use of commercial kitchen equipment and tools; ability to move supplies weighing 20–50 pounds; good depth perception and color discernment; ability to work indoors around hot and cold temperatures and loud noises. The role may involve handling meat and plant-based food products and allergens during menu preparation and ware-washing tasks. The person must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodation. Compensation and schedule
Location: Bloomington, Indiana Pay: $15.75 per hour Minimum of 16 hours per week; position capped at 29 hours per week. Benefits (for full-time staff where applicable)
