We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to support our finance department. In this role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with reporting and compliance—especially in support of government contracts.

The Accountant position requires government contracting experience and proficiency with Deltek Costpoint and advanced Excel-based financial analysis. This position operates with minimal supervision while performing a full range of accounting duties.

Responsibilities

Administer and monitor employee and subcontractor timesheets; process semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time, including full-cycle payroll entries and reconciliations in

Deltek Costpoint .

Support payroll compliance and provide backup coverage as needed.

Manage accounts payable and receivable, perform collections, and reconcile related accounts monthly using

Costpoint modules .

Generate, analyze, and reconcile invoices, financial statements, and specialized reports reflecting account and project status.

Conduct month-end close activities, including journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and bank/credit account reconciliations.

Collaborate with the Financial Analyst to create, improve, and maintain

Costpoint-driven financial and operational reports .

Develop and automate

Excel-based templates, pivot tables, and financial models

to streamline data analysis, forecasting, and project control.

Assist with budgeting, project control, and financial analysis to ensure compliance with

FAR, DCAA , and other government contracting regulations.

Apply accounting principles to evaluate financial data and ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards and company policies.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting practices, Costpoint functionality, and government compliance requirements.

Provide additional accounting and administrative support as needed.

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

5+ years of experience in accounting or finance.

3+ years of relevant Government Contracting Accounting experience.

An understanding of FAR as it pertains to accounting principles.

3+ years of experience with Deltek Costpoint (including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and project modules).

Experience as a Payroll Specialist.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query, and data analysis tools.

Ability to exercise discretion using professional judgment while complying with policies, procedures, accounting principles, and applicable federal and state regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.

Advanced knowledge of Deltek Costpoint, Time & Expense, and related reporting tools.

Experience with Costpoint integrations, data exports, and dashboard creation.

Experience with Paycor payroll software.

Experience with GAAP.

Experience with PIEE and WAWF.

Experience with reconciliation of health care benefits.

Strong project control, budgeting, and forecasting skills.

Ability to provide backup support for payroll and accounts payable.

Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.

Team player with a proactive attitude and willingness to assist as needed.

Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.
