The Instructional System Designer,

Unmanned Aerial Systems

position exists within the Sinclair College National UAS Training and Certification Center to support the development of curriculum focused on Unmanned Aerial System ( UAS ), Advanced Air Mobility ( AAM ), traditional aircraft, and related topics. The Instructional System Designer will design, develop and deliver workforce development courses, as well as credit course content in coordination with faculty and other support offices as appropriate. The position supports revenue generation goals working for the senior personnel in the UAS Department under the supervision of the Associate Director for Advanced Air Mobility Training, Unmanned Aerial Systems.

The potential minimum compensation for this position begins at $58,491.00 and is commensurate with education and experience.

Principal Accountabilities

Designs and develops course content, assignments, assessments, and other learning activities for credit and non-credit courses designed for various modalities including in-person, online, hybrid, and competency-based education ( CBE ) Continually researches best practices in pedagogy and instructional design approaches and shares this current knowledge with UAS Department staff and collaborating faculty as appropriate to various project tasks Uses creativity, imagination, and emerging instructional technologies to bring fresh ideas to the design of robust and engaging curriculum As needed, designs and facilitates learning experiences for workshop instructors and collaborating faculty to prepare them to succeed as curriculum developers Through peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and online resources, read, research, and remain knowledgeable about current issues in the field of in-person, online, CBE , and hybrid learning; in particular, maintain expertise in the pedagogy, theory, and practice of instructional design Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director for Advanced Air Mobility Training, Unmanned Aerial Systems and Executive Director and Chief Research Officer, Unmanned Aerial Systems

Requirements

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in instruction, curriculum development, or technical areas of focus related to UAS and AAM required, master’s degree preferred Minimum of two years of experience in education, training, instruction, or related field required Experience in instructional design for in-person, online, CBE , and hybrid courses (training or teaching) preferred Experience with learning management systems course shell development and maintenance preferred Strong PC skills, including standard office tools and industry specific software packages is required Proven prior strategic planning and project management experience is preferred Experience in modeling and simulation related to UAS and AAM to support development of instructional materials is preferred Experience in data analytics related to UAS and AAM applications to support development of instructional materials is preferred Familiarity with and ability to develop instructional materials leveraging UAS and AAM aircraft and support systems for ground and operational flight instruction is preferred Familiarity with and ability to develop instructional materials leveraging UAS and AAM flight simulators is preferred Familiarity with and ability to develop instructional materials leveraging traditional aircraft flight simulators and flight training devices is preferred Strong organizational and analytical skills are required Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external customers and partners is required Excellent oral and written communication and listening skills, including experience in preparing and delivering proposals, reports, curriculum, and presentations is required Ability to read, research, and comprehend technical and regulatory documents is required Proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships is required U.S. Passport preferred Current Remote Pilot Certificate issued by the Federal Aviation Administration ( FAA ) is preferred Current or ability to obtain a FAA Second Class Medical is preferred
