Phlebotomist - Jackson Heights
We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have over two years of recent phlebotomy experience with strong skills in using straight needles. Being bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred. The candidate must be reliable, punctual, and possess excellent communication skills. Familiarity with different color tubes and tests is a plus. Responsibilities: Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and handle decontamination. Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures as required. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Ensure test requisitions or computer labels match the script for accuracy. Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples at the required temperature. Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label them, and follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity. Essential Skills: Minimum of 1 year experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong proficiency in drawing blood and specimen collection. Experience with straight needles and venipuncture techniques. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred. Knowledge of different color tubes and tests is beneficial. Work Environment: This position is based at a Patient Service Center (PSC) in Jackson Heights, Queens. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with rotating Saturdays from 8 AM to 5 PM. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $23.00/hr.
