The Study Abroad Program Advisor serves in the Center for Global Engagement and reports to the Assistant Director of Study Abroad and ultimately to the Director of Study Abroad. The position serves Baylor’s student population by providing assistance and advisement to exchange program participants or faculty‑led stakeholders and by serving as a campus advocate for study abroad programs. The successful candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and up to one year of relevant professional experience. A master’s degree, three years of relevant experience, and Study Abroad experience are preferred.

A Bachelor’s Degree and up to one-year Study Abroad professional experience is required. A Master’s Degree and Three years of relevant Higher Education professional experience, Study/Work/Personal Abroad experiences preferred.

Demonstrated experience with computer applications/software and database systems

Interpersonal, public speaking, organizational, research, and writing skills

Understanding of the complexities involved in studying abroad and cross‑cultural awareness

Demonstrate the ability to work with a diverse student body and foster sensitivity to diversity issues in the University community

Ability to advise faculty, students, and staff to provide solutions to problems using valid, up-to-date information.

Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Background in editing, proofreading, creative writing, and/or writing marketing content

Advanced understanding of the functions of a Study Abroad office:

How exchange, affiliate, custom faculty‑led program’s function and are established and maintained

Knowledge of various work, study, and travel abroad opportunities

Understanding of theoretical frameworks and practical approaches for student advising

What you will do

Coordinate and facilitate the process involved in the administration of Baylor’s International Programs

Coordinate program logistics in collaboration with external partners and internal stakeholders

Assist students with their preparation to study abroad for a semester

Provide training to campus staff and faculty regarding international experience

Collaborate and communicate with campus partners to aid in recruitment for study abroad

Maintain brochure pages within Terra Dotta so they are up to date

Serve to manage program information and maintain files and records

Train and assist employees in financial, academic, and logistical responsibilities for programs

Maintain effective communication with internal and external constituents relevant to programs

Effective service posture and ability to solve problems and resolve conflict

Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission

Ability to comply with Baylor University policies

Maintain regular and punctual attendance
