Overview OEC Group is seeking an experienced communications writer to join its communications team. The candidate should have excellent writing skills and be comfortable writing in a journalistic style.
About OEC Group: Established in 1981, OEC Group is a leading NVOCC freight forwarding company providing import/export services, door-to-door services for international and domestic needs. Services include ocean and air freight, rail, trucking, warehousing and distribution, customs brokerage, cargo insurance and more.
Responsibilities
The role is a strategic position where the successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Marketing to prepare all necessary documentation and ensure materials align with the company’s tactical needs and goals.
Comfortable appearing on camera for internal and external video content.
Identify, research, and pursue compelling stories aligned with company goals.
Conduct interviews with subject matter experts, employees, and stakeholders to gather insights.
Perform in-depth research to support storytelling and content development.
Film and edit video content using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro).
Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to produce engaging multimedia content.
Maintain high standards of journalistic integrity and storytelling.
Meet tight deadlines while managing multiple projects.
Write newsletters, press releases and executive communications. A history of pitching stories to reporters is desired but not required.
Coordinate the creation and production of marketing communications.
Write creative content for various outlets within the marketing team.
Assist with developing effective benchmarks to measure and evaluate the impact of social media marketing campaigns.
Conduct in-depth research on industry-related topics.
Proofread content for errors and inconsistencies.
Edit and polish existing content to improve readability.
Write blogs and executive communications on behalf of the company and President.
Comply with strict and tight deadlines.
Qualifications
Bachelors’ degree or higher in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, English or a related field from an accredited institution.
2-4 years of experience in Marketing, Public Relations, or Journalism.
Knowledge of marketing and public relations.
Experience writing newsletters, press releases and executive communications; pitching stories to reporters is a plus.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Schedule & Location New York Office: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm EST.
Salary $70,000-$75,000 annually based on education and experience level.
