Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Junior SQL Developer with hands‑on experience in AWS RDS, SQL performance tuning, and SSIS ETL development to join our growing data engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically curious developer early in their career to work on real‑world data pipelines, cloud database infrastructure, and mission‑critical reporting systems.
You will play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing data solutions that power business insights, ensure data accuracy, and support scalable applications.
Job Responsibilities
Write, refactor, and performance‑tune complex T‑SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views.
Analyze execution plans, add appropriate indexing, and resolve bottlenecks in high‑volume environments.
Implement best practices for error handling, transactions, and query reusability.
Provision, configure, and maintain Amazon RDS instances (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
Manage backups, restores, replication, Multi‑AZ deployments, and automated snapshots.
Monitor performance using CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and RDS Enhanced Monitoring.
Apply security best practices: IAM roles, VPC security groups, encryption at rest/transit, and parameter groups.
Design, develop, and deploy SSIS packages for ETL/ELT workflows using Visual Studio and SQL Server Data Tools.
Implement data validation, error logging, restartability, and package configurations.
Migrate legacy DTS/SSIS packages and optimize for performance and reliability.
Schedule and monitor SSIS jobs via SQL Server Agent or AWS SSM/Airflow.
Collaborate with analysts and developers to design normalized/denormalized schemas and data marts.
Participate in code reviews, data architecture discussions, and sprint planning.
Build reusable ETL frameworks for recurring data loads.
Support BI teams by creating staging tables, views, and report‑ready datasets.
Experience & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
1–3 years of hands‑on experience with:
T‑SQL (complex joins, CTEs, window functions, dynamic SQL)
SQL Server 2016+ (on‑prem or RDS)
AWS RDS (instance setup, scaling, backups, monitoring)
SSIS (control flow, data flow, scripting tasks, deployments)
Solid understanding of relational database design, normalization, and indexing strategies.
Experience with source control (Git preferred).
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication — able to explain technical concepts clearly.
