Adjunct Professor - 911 Dispatch Telecommunicator
Midlands Technical College seeks a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach the APCO 911 Dispatch Training: Public Safety Telecommunicator Certification course. This course is designed for both new hires and experienced professionals, providing the essential skills, knowledge, and abilities required to excel in public safety communications. Students who successfully complete the course and pass the final exam will earn APCO Institute certification, which meets and exceeds nationally recognized training standards, including APCO/ANS 3.103.2.2015 and NFPA 1061 (2014 Edition).

Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction that meets the requirements of the APCO Institute certification.
Teach course content including communication skills, call-taking, radio techniques, NextGen 9-1-1 technology, and public safety liability considerations.
Prepare students for the final APCO certification exam.
Maintain compliance with APCO instructional standards and Midlands Technical College policies.
Provide timely feedback and support to students to ensure successful completion.
Stay current with updates in public safety communication practices, technology, and industry standards.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
APCO Instructor Certification to teach Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST1) courses.
Demonstrated experience in public safety communications, 911 dispatch, or related fields.
Strong communication, organizational, and instructional skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Communications, or a related field.
Prior teaching or training experience, particularly in adult education.
Experience with NextGen 9-1-1 systems and current dispatch technologies.
