Police Certification. Responsibilities

Patrol and investigations, public relations and service, professional development and training, and report writing. Perform duties including patrol, law enforcement, criminal investigation, community relations, preparing and presenting testimony in court, completing trainings and professional development, and completing University documents (reports, tickets, daily logs, property/person receipts). Interact positively with the UK HealthCare community and represent the University with local law enforcement, community partners, UK HealthCare, and Kings Daughters administration officials. Shift and Work Schedule

UK HealthCare Police Officers work 10 hour shifts, four days a week on either 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift: 1st shift – 7:00 am to 5:00 pm 2nd shift – 4:00 pm to 2:00 am 3rd shift – 10:00 pm to 8:00 am Must be able to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime. Physical Requirements

Lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 lbs; sitting/walking/standing for long periods; handling intermittent periods of high stress; engaging with potentially violent or combative people. Education, Licensure, and Experience

High school graduate or has successfully completed a General Educational Development (G.E.D.) examination Possess a valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle Not prohibited by federal or state law from possessing a firearm Not have had certification as a peace officer permanently revoked in another state Citizen of the United States Not convicted of a felony Not convicted of any misdemeanor or inchoate offenses under KRS Chapter 510 Not have been dishonorably discharged from the military Preferred Education/Experience
