Assembly Equipment and Facility Layout Planner
for a client in the automotive industry, specializing in car manufacturing. This is a
long‑term Contractor
role based in
Vance, AL

PURPOSE The position performs the detailed layout planning of all Assembly equipment. The planning position works very closely with Facilities and Logistics planning to ensure all areas that impact the overall layout are covered.
This role will focus on layout planning for a launch as well as series‑related layout tasks.
This will also include planning a shop rebalance, in which many equipment and Team member's related areas will need to be relocated repurposed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning the overall layout with all relevant parties (i.e. assembly, logistic, conveyor and civil eng. planning)
Planning the necessary changes of all facilities: I‑Strang, Media supply (power, compressed air), White steel, ESD coating, marking, platforms, process exhaust system, lineside equipment (turnframes, underframes, tilt tables), IT equipment (Hardware and data drops) required for integration of new models or new processes in Assembly and describe scope of work in MNK (additional material costs) incl. layout and technical description
Creating assembly layouts (for specifications and MNK) with FAPLIS and Microstation.
Timing coordination in project plan
Construction site supervision and management.
Responsible for leading layout project meetings
Support of the entire assembly building process and interface between internal departments and external partners.
Check the design and drawings of the external planning partners and contractors for equipment (e.g. robot cells, assist devices)
Act as a multidisciplinary liaison between supplier, facility, and the Project Team to ensure equipment i.e., conveyors, steel mezzanines etc., are accurately acquired and implemented according to company standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering
A minimum of three (3) years' of relevant professional experience an engineering oriented environment with a manufacturing setting, with strong emphasis on equipment and tooling projects, project management, and strong hands‑on capabilities.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Knowledge in Microstation V8i required
Drafting skills
Flexibility to supportneeds and demands
Knowledge in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint)
Ability to work in a team environment
PREFERRED SKILLS
Ability to clearly communicate technical information, both verbally and in writing.
Work experience with OEM equipment and tooling related issues
Experience in project management and in leading problem solving groups
Knowledge in system applications such as SAP, CAD , Faplis
German Language proficiency
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE
Location: Vance, AL
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Overtime: As needed
Assignment Start: December 1 2025
Assignment End: December 1 2026, likely to extend
