JOB DESCRIPTION - ST. MARY PARISH, LORAIN - MUSIC DIRECTOR Qualifications
Knowledge of Catholic Liturgy Good people skills, ability to work cooperatively with parish staff Experience of working with choirs Able to provide for recruitment, organization, preparation, leadership of choir Focus
Responsible for designing and leading a music program which evokes, encourages, and supports congregational prayer and participation. Work in collaboration with Pastor and staff Responsibilities
Prepare and plan for all liturgical services, including, but not limited to liturgical seasons, special parish events, weddings and funerals Train and utilize cantors to encourage congregational singing Foster fellowship, spirituality and commitment among choir members Conduct regular choir rehearsals and brief practices before services (when appropriate) Choose music which enhances, compliments, and supports the message of each worship experience Make an effort to include inclusive language Maintain worship aid licensure, purchase of music and maintain music equipment Encouraged to participate in/attend parish events Any other request from the pastor Accountability
