About NewsWest 9 NewsWest 9, the award‑winning powerhouse NBC affiliate in the heart of West Texas, is looking for a confident, credible, and passionate journalist to anchor our flagship 10PM newscast. We want a strong storyteller, a trusted communicator, and a newsroom leader who brings energy, authenticity, and clarity to every show. Responsibilities

Anchor the 10PM newscast with authority, warmth, and journalistic integrity

Write and edit news content with accuracy and urgency

Engage with viewers across digital and social platforms

Collaborate with producers and reporters to shape daily news coverage

Lead in breaking news situations with calm, clear delivery

Represent NewsWest 9 at community events and station initiatives

Requirements

Proven experience anchoring evening or late newscasts

Ability to produce

Build rundowns that flow logically and maintain viewer interest

Strategically balance hard news, weather, sports, and lighter content

Times shows accurately, floating or cutting content as needed

Ability to shoot, write and edit

Strong live reporting and ad‑libbing abilities

A passion for local journalism and a drive to connect with the audience

Comfort and professionalism both on‑camera and off

Ability to lead and inspire a newsroom team under deadline

A positive attitude and willingness to be a team player

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field

3+ years of anchoring/reporting experience in a professional newsroom

ENPS, Edius, and newsroom computer system experience a plus

Benefits TEGNA offers comprehensive benefits designed to safeguard the physical, mental, and financial health of our employees and their families. TEGNA offers two medical plan options for full- and part‑time employees through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, as well as access to dental and eye care coverage; fertility, surrogacy and adoption assistance; disability and life insurance. Our 401(k) program offers full, part‑time and temporary employees the opportunity to contribute 1%–80% of their pay on a pre‑tax basis to TEGNA's 401(k). Contributions made up to the first 4% of pay are eligible for a 100% match from the company and are 100% vested from day one. Regardless of participation in TEGNA medical plans, all employees and their eligible family members receive nine free virtual doctor's appointments with a physician through Teladoc, and 12 free annual therapy sessions with a licensed clinician through Spring Health.
