Distribution & Warehousing Manager Job Description

Our company is seeking a talented Distribution & Warehousing Manager to join our Supply Chain team. This position is responsible for overseeing the entire warehouse operation, including receiving, storing, inventory management, shipping, and logistics. This position will manage staff, optimize processes, and ensure safety and productivity targets are met.

Duties and Responsibilities Develop and enforce safety and security protocols to ensure a safe working environment Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA standards Supervise, train, and develop warehouse staff to foster a high-performing environment by motivating the team and setting clear goals Establish or adjust work procedures to execute inbound and outbound shipping schedules Work with other departments, such as sales and procurement, to coordinate inventory planning and order processing Maintain warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, shipping time, and inventory accuracy Responsible for departmental budgets and seek opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures Oversee inventory levels and movement, conducting regular cycle counts and audits to maintain accurate inventory records Manage the logistics for transporting products and resolve any issues related to shipping and deliveries Optimize warehouse layout, storage systems, and workflows to maximize efficiency and space utilization Recommend ways to improve distribution methods, equipment performance, and quality of product Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and carriers to schedule inbound and outbound shipments Verify or prepare records such as routing slips, material requisitions, and job orders Requirements and Qualifications

Degree in business management, logistics, supply chain management, a related field, or equivalent experience 3-5+ years of experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution role, with prior management experience preferred Strong leadership skills are necessary to supervise and motivate a team Certifications in inventory management, logistics, or operating equipment like forklifts are recommended The ability to analyze data and implement effective solutions is crucial Exceptional organizational skills to manage complex logistical details and processes Familiarity with WMS, ERP software, Oracle EBS, and Microsoft Office Suite Capability to work in a fast-paced environment Outstanding written and verbal communication skills Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to manage a broad range of personalities, both internally and externally
