What can you expect? As the Project Engineer II, you will work onsite and be an integral member of the Construction Management Team, supporting the successful delivery of complex environmental and infrastructure projects across Alaska and the Pacific region. This role combines remote project engineering with field‑based execution, ensuring environmental compliance, safety, quality, and cost control from project initiation through closeout. You will work closely with the Project Manager and field leadership by planning, coordinating, and documenting all aspects of construction and remediation projects ranging from fuel facility upgrades and marine infrastructure to environmental remediation efforts in remote or logistically challenging environments.
How will you do it?
Support projects from proposal through closeout, ensuring technical accuracy, environmental compliance, and schedule and quality adherence.
Assist with the development of work plans, cost estimates, and subcontractor scopes, and manage in‑house and subcontracted resources.
Lead or assist in document control, including RFIs, submittals, drawings, change orders, and project correspondence through platforms such as RMS or similar systems.
Prepare and maintain daily project documentation, including timekeeping, inspection reports, environmental compliance logs, photos, and video records.
Support permitting and reporting requirements, ensuring all field activities align with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Contribute to the creation and maintenance of project schedules and resource plans.
Coordinate and participate in project meetings; prepare agendas, minutes, and action item logs.
Monitor field progress, quality control, and safety compliance during construction and remediation activities.
Foster effective communication and collaboration among the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Quality Control, Safety, and field teams—both on‑site and remotely.
Maintain a proactive commitment to safe work practices, situational awareness, and adherence to company and client safety policies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Functions This position may direct the work of craft and other project workers as needed and directed.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient in construction management software and tools, including databases, spreadsheets, scheduling, cost tracking, and standard business applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
Experience with project documentation and correspondence platforms such as RMS, Procore, or similar systems.
Strong understanding of environmental construction practices, including remediation methods, erosion control, and compliance documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, subcontractors, clients, and regulatory agencies in both remote and on‑site settings.
Ability to interpret and produce technical documents, engineering drawings, specifications, and reports with accuracy and clarity.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in dynamic, multidisciplinary project environments.
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with sound judgment and the ability to make decisions based on available data and field conditions.
Capable of managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines in a fast‑paced work environment.
High attention to detail, organization, and accuracy in project documentation and execution.
Skilled in facilitating and participating in team meetings, including virtual collaboration and field coordination.
Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules, priorities, and remote or extended travel assignments.
Ability to operate vehicles safely and efficiently in accordance with company and project safety standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil, Environmental, or Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant construction or environmental project experience, preferably on federal, remote, or environmentally focused infrastructure projects (e.g., remediation, fuel systems, marine, or civil works).
Familiarity with USACE, NAVFAC, or other federal agency construction standards.
Proficiency with construction management and document control systems (e.g., RMS, Procore, or similar).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to coordinate effectively in remote and hybrid work environments.
Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Brice Solution’s Driving Policy.
Ability to pass drug, driving, and background screenings in accordance with company and federal requirements.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport and travel internationally or to remote project sites for extended periods as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of environmental remediation, site restoration, and regulatory compliance (e.g., CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, NEPA) preferred.
Certifications preferred:
USACE Construction Quality Management (CQM)
Alaska Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (AK‑CESCL)
OSHA 30-hour / EM 385-1-1
First Aid and CPR/AED
