Comprehensive Community Health Centers, Inc. (CCHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) operating six community health centers across metropolitan Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley. Three of these centers – Glendale, Sunland, and Eagle Rock – house dental clinics.
Dentist Job Summary
Provide clinical dental services and preventive dental care in a community health center setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Examine patients, diagnose dental/oral conditions, prescribe and carry out appropriate treatment or direct others in treatment, and refer for specialty care as guided by clinical protocols and guidelines.
Record all patient-dentist transactions and maintain accurate dental records.
Complete referrals, data collection instruments, and other required documentation.
Educate patients on oral health conditions and prevention.
Serve on the dental staff and other center committees as assigned.
Prepare reports requested by the community health center’s Medical Director.
Assist with continuing education, on‑job training, and staff orientation as needed.
Adhere to dental department policies, protocols, and procedures as directed by the Medical Director.
Provide technical assistance and health education to the community.
Participate in short‑ and long‑term program planning, including goal and objective development.
Travel as necessary for CCHC needs and attend meetings.
Coordinate and integrate dental programs with other corporate services.
Comply with all applicable federal, state, local, and center regulations governing dentistry and related workplace safety, public health, and confidentiality.
Participate in recruitment/retention activities.
Supervise dental assistants and hygienists when the Medical Director is absent.
Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Education, Training, and Experience
Graduation from an accredited dental school.
Completion of an accredited general practice residency program is preferred.
One year of clinical experience is preferred but not required.
Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
Unrestricted California dental license.
DMD/DDS and DEA registration.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of public health principles and practices.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of primary dental care in outpatient settings.
Understanding of modern dentistry practices relevant to public health organizations.
Ability to keep all licenses and CME requirements current.
Exemplary listening and explain‑to‑non‑medical‑background skills.
Analytical skills for diagnosis and treatment determination.
Strong interpersonal skills for compassionate patient communication.
Up‑to‑date knowledge of new techniques and equipment.
Effective patient scheduling and time management.
Problem‑solving when barriers arise.
Strong documentation and multitasking abilities.
Independent resource seeking and collaborative work.
Compliance with oral and written instructions.
High‑team‑orientation work ethic.
Willingness to work under supervision and maintain working relationships.
Computer literacy, including Microsoft Outlook and learning new software.
Travel and attendance at professional meetings, conferences, and trainings.
Flexibility, enthusiasm, and cooperation in multidisciplinary teams.
Additional duties as assigned.
Pay Rate : $72–$81 per hour (Part‑time)
