Overview
The Head of Workspace Virtualization Engineering oversees the technical strategy, development, deployment, and optimization of Citrix/IGEL virtualization solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements and technological innovations. Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning Define and implement the VDI strategy and solutions in alignment with the organization’s goals. Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to ensure the organization remains technologically competitive. Technical Oversight Design scalable and redundant infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, availability, and disaster recovery. Review and approve technical specifications, ensuring solutions meet performance and scalability requirements Team Management Lead, mentor, and manage the Workspace Virtualization engineering team. Establish clear objectives and KPIs, ensuring continuous improvement. Provide technical training and upskilling opportunities for team members. Vendor Relationships Collaborate with vendors on product roadmaps, providing feedback on required features and improvements. Benchmark vendor performance metrics and hold them accountable for SLAs. Research & Innovation Allocate resources for R&D, piloting new virtualization features or related technologies. Engage with industry peers and attend conferences to stay updated on virtualization trends. Stakeholder Collaboration Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams, such as Networking, Security, and Application Support, to ensure seamless integration and operations. Engage with vendors, partners, and contractors, managing relationships and negotiations. Incident and Problem Management Ensure timely resolution of escalated technical issues. Work closely with the support teams to reduce incidents and enhance the user experience. Documentation Maintain a centralized repository for all Citrix/IGEL configurations, architectures, and best practices. Host knowledge sharing sessions within the team to propagate best practices and lessons learned. Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree or equivalent is a plus. 8+ years of experience in VDI engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. 7+ years of high level experience in managing Microsoft collaboration platforms - Power Platform, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams Strong expertise in VDI solutions such as Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft RDS. Mastery over Citrix/IGEL suite, with hands-on experience in troubleshooting complex issues Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) for automation. Solid understanding of network protocols, cloud computing, and security best practices. Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience in cloud-based VDI solutions like Windows 365 or Azure Virtual Desktop. Good understanding of latest GenAI technologies - Azure AI and Copilot and its impact of enablement on business groups in Financial Institutions Minimum five years of field experience, preferably Office 365 and Dynamics or Power technician experience Foundational knowledge of O365 platform, including Power Platform, Azure AD, Azure logic, Exchange and SharePoint Experience in Power BI administration and report development Experience using JIRA for project management activities Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents, Azure
