About Team: EBS - RiskTech
Our team works closely with US stores and eCommerce to empower team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization. The Global Governance Tech organization is standing up a new team to develop Risk, Compliance and Privacy solutions for customers. Our teams are agile and cloud-native with a startup culture. We are growing our team with software engineers who take pride in their craft and are ready to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. We aim to create affordable, customized experiences for customers across all channels.
What You'll Do:
Define platform strategy and develop architecture that enables scalable development across multiple teams, applying software excellence principles of reusability, reliability, availability, and resilience
Navigate ambiguous problem definitions and develop a technology strategy that is customer-centric, collaborating with Walmart Supply Chain tech teams across Retail, DotCom, and international expansions
Adopt and envision modern technology solutions using Agentic AI and related technologies; drive innovations and challenge the status quo of software engineering
Lead and participate in medium- to large-scale projects by translating requirements into technical solutions, partnering with product management, technical program managers, business, and UX teams; prepare information and obtain cross-functional approvals
Lead a small group of engineers (including offshore associates) by providing direction, documentation, and examples
Identify short- and long-term solutions and timelines; review and provide feedback on proposed solutions and perform design and code reviews
Hands-on development on building multi-tier applications using Microservices, Java/J2EE and related technologies
Analyze business requirements and artifacts in an agile environment with quick turnaround and iterative builds
Work cross-functionally with product management, product lines, or business units to drive results and maintain team dynamics
Demonstrate passion for growing and applying technical skills in service to customers; experience with SCRUM and/or Extreme Programming methodologies
Mentor software engineers and product partners; partner with Engineering leadership
What You'll Bring:
Expert in designing and implementing REST API web services using Spring Boot
Expert in backend development with hands-on experience in Node.js, Java/J2EE, Spring, SQL, Hibernate, JavaScript, HTML
Expert in running fully automated, end-to-end CI/CD processes
Expert in cloud technologies and related application development
Expert in platform solutions and delivering scalable and performant applications
Strong experience with persistent storage technologies including relational databases and NoSQL
Experience with GenAI/Agentic AI and machine learning technologies
Experience with UI technologies such as React
Experience with development tools such as Git, Maven, and Splunk; familiarity with Copilot-integrated IDEs
Proficiency in testing and troubleshooting using JUnit tests

Location : Sunnyvale, California; Bentonville, Arkansas with salary ranges:
Sunnyvale, CA: $143,000.00 – $286,000.00 annually
Bentonville, AR: $110,000.00 – $220,000.00 annually
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses and potential stock options where applicable.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years of software engineering experience OR 7 years of software engineering experience. Preferred: Master's degree in related field and 3 years of software engineering experience; knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design is a plus.
