Overview
Operations Assistant - All American Restaurant
Summary: Support the Military's Quality of Life programs. The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Food and Beverage; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); NBK Bremerton - All-American Restaurant.
Responsibilities
- Ensure an efficient operation in accordance with regulations and procedures.
- Promote good patron relationships and enhance the image of the facility.
- Oversee operation and provide instruction and guidance to staff members.
- Ensure that patrons receive courteous and efficient service.
- Work with facility staff and others to ensure that the operation runs smoothly; assist staff to provide faster service to patrons.
- Coordinate with Manager to schedule employees and ensure adequate manning; optimize labor cost; inspect facilities and employees’ appearance with attention to dress and cleanliness; evaluate employees in a timely manner.
- Ensure proper cash handling procedures are followed; occasionally perform unscheduled cash counts.
- Prepare a report of significant occurrences/incidents during a shift (e.g., personnel/staffing issues, equipment breakdown or repair).
- Identify and resolve problems that may arise.
- Enforce a thorough and comprehensive safety program.
- Participate in creating and promoting effective programs and activities.
- May be required to use a cash register and POS system.
- May be called upon to perform duties of subordinate positions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A minimum of one year experience as a leader/supervisor in a business operation (e.g., restaurant, club, storefront).
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures and sales operations.
- Must be 18 years old or older.
- May be required to lift up to 45 lbs.
- Travel and related usage of vehicles is required.
- Successful completion of National Agency Background Check (NACI) required.
Qualifications
- Possess a working knowledge of the operation in which they are assigned.
- Must possess a sharp people-oriented personality with tact and diplomacy to influence, obtain cooperation and assistance.
- Must have the ability to supervise a group.
- Must have the ability to render decisions.
- Must present a neat, well-groomed appearance.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, and to provide work direction to other employees.

There is no minimum education requirement for this position.

- Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
