The Department of Linguistics at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Phonetics and Phonology, with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026.

Position Details

Title: Assistant Professor

Rank: Assistant Professor (FLSA faculty)

Contract Type: Academic (9 mo.)

Tenure Status: Tenure‑Track

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Linguistics or closely related discipline required at the time of appointment

Responsibilities

Teach four courses annually, including introductory and advanced courses in phonetics and phonology, and other courses in the candidate’s specialization.

Advising at all academic levels.

Service to the department and the university.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Linguistics or a related field.

Productive research agenda focused on laboratory phonology, speech technology, corpus, or computational methods.

Strong teaching and mentorship experience at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Potential to attract external funding and foster interdisciplinary collaboration.
