Scope of Job

Oversees and manages the organization and supervision of all logistical aspects of the assigned sport Team within the parameters designated by the University, Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association ( NCAA ).

Description of Duties

Oversees the daily operations of the assigned sport program to include but not limited to: travel, scheduling, budget control, championship arrangements, on-campus recruiting, video coordination and strength and conditioning.

Manages the departmental budget for the assigned sport program.

Effectively manages all of the travel for the assigned sport team. This will include all team, recruiting and professional development travel.

Develops, implements, and manages programs including oversight of the assigned sport team film exchange program, film editing software and equipment operations.

Directs the strength and condition program for the assigned sport program if needed.

Serves as liaison between the assigned sport program and athletic administration including facilities, marketing and promotions, game operations, ticketing, athletic training and strength and conditioning, nutrition, and media relations.

Effectively trains, supervises, and evaluates student employees.

Develops and maintains campus relationships, including interaction with the Office of Residential Life, Undergraduate Advising, Compliance and other appropriate partners and collaborators on campus assuring NCAA compliance and student athlete eligibility for assigned sport.

Assists with the review of prospective student-athletes files for the assigned sport.

Tracks prospects and current student athletes in NCAA Clearinghouse, with NCAA certification, with NCAA satisfactory progress, and with individual student athlete eligibility.

Assists in briefing student athletes and monitoring adherence to all rules and guidelines.

Maintains knowledge of the rules and regulations of UTRGV , the Southerland Conference and the NCAA .

Maintains compliance with regards to all NCAA , conference, and university rules and regulations.

Assists with alumni and community relations and outreach.

Performs other duties assigned by the head coach.

General supervision from assigned sport Coach.

Supervision Given

Direct supervision of assigned staff.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

Licenses/Certifications

As condition of employment this position requires the applicant to be authorized to operate a University-Owned Vehicle for Official University Business. Per University of Texas System Policy 157, applicants will be subject to a motor vehicle record check for their most recent thirty-six (36) month history. Out of State Drivers are required to submit a 36-month history MVR from their prior State of residence(s).

Required Experience

Two (2) years of related experience.

Preferred Experience

Experience in collegiate level and/or professional level sport operations, coaching or administrative experience. Experience with Division I athletics.

Equipment

Use of standard office equipment, personal computer, and audio/visual equipment.

Working Conditions

Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Long and varied hours. Office/Game day environment. Frequent weekend and evening activities. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Position requires high ethical standards and incumbent must exhibit a strict adherence to NCAA , university and departmental rules and regulations as well as a solid commitment to academic integrity, student-athlete welfare, and any applicable NCAA standards. Understand that violation(s) of NCAA rules could result in sanctions being placed against the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the University. Possess excellent organizational skills, be self-driven and have great attention to detail. Must be able to perform under deadlines and handle a wide variety of projects simultaneously. Ability to interact effectively with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public. Mileage used on personal vehicle will be compensated at the state rate.
