Segarra Associates is partnering with a growing professional services firm. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance. This hands‑on leader will ensure accurate and timely financial information, support executive decision‑making, and lead the firm’s finance team. The ideal candidate brings experience in a professional services environment, thrives in a fast‑paced setting, and is eager to contribute to a collaborative leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and revenue recognition
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning
Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations
Implement and enhance accounting systems and process improvements
Act as a business partner to senior leadership and department heads, providing financial insights and recommendations
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a high‑performance culture
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred
Experience
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
Prior experience in a professional services firm
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
Hands‑on experience with accounting systems
Proven experience managing a team and building accounting infrastructure
