DuPage Machine Products
Responsibilities
Proposals
Create proposal for new parts from customer print
Indicate appropriate machine tool, material, cycle time/parts per hour, tooling cost, subsequent operations, and outside services needed
Documentation, tool layout, and "offset print"
Create tool layout sheet specifying all tooling and hardware needed to setup a specific job in a specific machine tool. Also identifying Autocrib inventory number for perishable tooling so operators can locate appropriate cutting tool
Create color coded "offset print" to communicate to the machine operator what tool effects what geometry on the piece part so the operator can make appropriate adjustments to keep part within specification
Maintain and update layouts and offset prints to keep current with process improvements and changes
CNC programming, process engineering
Create machining process
Sequence of operations
Machine tool selection
Cutting tool selection
Work holding selection
Appropriate machining processes to achieve required results (drill, ream, bore, burnish, broach, single point thread, tap, roll thread, polygon turn, transmit mill, polar interpolation, etc.)
Determine appropriate machining parameters (speeds, feeds, and DOC) based on work piece material and cutting tool material and geometry
Create CNC program using Partmaker or Espirit CAD CAM software. For CNC turning centers, Swiss-type CNC turning centers, and CNC multispindle. Manufacturers: Index, Miyano, Star, Mori Seiki, Okuma, Daewoo, Takamaz, and ZPS. Provide all CNC programs for 33 CNC machines. Siemens 840D, Fanuc, Okuma OSP, and Mitsubishi controls and programming languages
Setup part files in the Zoller tool presetter for all Index and Star ST38 processes
Train personnel on machine setup, machine operation, and machine repair for all Index and CNC department machinery
Continuous improvement
Monitor and improve cycle time and process capability on all CNC machines
Perform machine setups when department is behind or when setup person is absent
Setup and prove out new processes and more complex piece parts
Corrective action and problem solving
Attend corrective action meetings with quality control to provide technical solutions to process inefficiencies and quality concerns
Troubleshoot and repair machinery
Seek advice from machine manufacturer when unable to resolve issues ourselves
Knowledge of Siemens Step 7 PLC program required to track down malfunctions within the machine's logic system
Locate and secure most economical replacement components needed for machine repair
Coordinate repair and remanufacture of mechanical and electronic machine components
Manufacture repair and replacement parts for machine tools
Requirements
At least 3-5 years of machine programming experience
Knowledge of machining processing and CNC machines
Knowledge of blue print reading, GDT, inspection equipment, and tooling
