Handex is currently seeking a highly motivated Environmental Scientist to assist our project managers with Contamination Assessment (soil/groundwater sampling and oversight work), Emergency Response, Remediation, and Environmental Support Services activities. Position requires to be at client sites (primarily ports) in the greater Fort Lauderdale, FL area. Handex Consulting & Remediation, LLC (Handex) is a full-service environmental company focused on providing professional environmental consulting, remediation, construction, emergency response, and sludge dewatering services in the United States. Founded in 1968, we have over 50 years of experience and have no intentions of slowing down! Responsibilities
Perform sampling and/or monitoring at our client sites and ports, which can include the following: Groundwater and soil sampling, vapor intrusion air sampling, well installation, soil borings, potable well surveys, aquifer testing, and pilot testing. Works with pumps, mechanical equipment and tools. As needed, will support 24-hour Emergency Response activities for contracted FDOT State-owned roads. Maintain and keep abreast of FDOT/FDEP regulations, SOPs, guidelines and safety to ensure all Handex activities are in compliance. Assist with necessary permitting associated with FDOT MOT and NPDES Discharging. Professionally represents Handex at all times and maintains an open line of communication with clients and internal staff. Benefits

College degree in Environmental Science required. 2+ years of experience working on groundwater and soil sampling, well installations, drilling, field assessments, emergency response, systems operations, and maintenance. Comfortable being outside in various weather conditions and working on environmental activities (soil/water/vapor). OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and a TWIC Card a plus. Knowledge of Florida state, county, local regulations, rules, SOPs, guidelines, DEP, DOT etc. Proficient technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, etc.). Highly organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and a team player with a can do attitude. Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills, both with HCR employees as well as customers and regulators. Willingness to travel to client sites in the South Florida region and possibly other Florida locations. Valid driver’s license in good standing a must. Ability to pass background checks (physical/criminal/drug/alcohol) required.
