Sr. Mechanical Engineer

to join a multinational energy and gas company in Newark, DE or Houston, TX. This is a 6‑month contract with the potential for extension.

W2 contract, no PTO, no benefits.

ACA‑compliant supplemental package available.

Pay Base pay range: $45.00/hr – $50.00/hr.

Schedule Core hours: 9 am – 3 pm (Central).

Description We are looking for a driven and technically‑skilled Mechanical Engineer to manage the complete lifecycle of critical mechanical equipment used in gas processing. You will own design, specification, commissioning and ongoing support, ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently and reliably. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a fast‑paced environment that demands both technical design and hands‑on project execution.

Responsibilities

Equipment Lifecycle Management: full responsibility for specification, selection, procurement, commissioning and maintenance of mechanical equipment.

Code Compliance: ensure all pressure vessel and piping designs adhere to relevant standards, particularly ASME Section VIII, Division 1 and ASME B31.3.

Project Execution: collaborate with Process, Electrical, Controls to design, install and commission new equipment and systems.

Technical Support: provide subject‑matter expertise for key rotating equipment, troubleshooting, maintenance strategies and reliability improvements.

Project Engineering: assist in managing scope, schedules and budgets to ensure successful delivery from concept to completion.

Education

HS Diploma and engineering experience required.

Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 10 years experience, or Master’s plus 8 years.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

10+ years in an industrial, manufacturing or chemical processing environment.

Working knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (Section VIII, Div 1) and Process Piping code (B31.3).

Experience with industrial rotating equipment and mechanical systems.

Leadership skills to motivate cross‑functional teams.

Strong problem‑solving, communication and interpersonal skills.

Hands‑on mechanical and troubleshooting ability.

Experience in environmental sustainability such as biogas, renewable energy or waste treatment.

Preferred knowledge of commercial agreements and customer relations.

Ability to travel up to 50 % and work in industrial environments.

Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Ability to excel in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment with strategic agility.

Preferred Qualifications

Design or operational experience with centrifugal blowers, oil‑flooded screw compressors and/or industrial mixers.

Project engineering or project management experience, including cost and schedule management.

Familiarity with gas processing, oil & gas or chemical industries.

Military technical training.

Knowledge of industrial gases and pipeline safety.
