Role Overview The Director of Accounting will serve as a key strategic partner to the CFO, leading the accounting function while shaping financial policies, processes, and infrastructure to support scale. The role combines technical accounting expertise, strategic business partnership, and hands‑on leadership — ideal for someone who thrives in fast‑paced environments and is eager to grow into a broader finance leadership role over time.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.

Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with precision and timeliness.

Lead treasury operations, ensuring sound management of liquidity, capital, and funding.

Strategic Finance Partnership

Collaborate with the CFO on forecasting, budgeting, and long‑term financial strategy.

Deliver financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to C‑suite and Board leadership.

Compliance & Audit

Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and consultants.

Ensure compliance with US GAAP and all relevant regulatory requirements.

Develop and implement scalable accounting policies and internal controls.

Identify opportunities to enhance systems, tools, and financial reporting processes.

Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.

Ideal Candidate Profile Experience

8–15 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.

Experience in fintech, financial services, or a similarly regulated environment.

Strong background in audits, revenue recognition, and accounting operations.

Skills & Attributes

Deep understanding of US GAAP and technical accounting principles.

Strategic mindset with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to executives and external partners.

Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.

CPA required ; public accounting or MBA preferred.

Base Salary:

$175K–$225K (depending on experience)

Equity:

Performance‑based equity potential after 12 months

Schedule:

Hybrid (Tues–Thurs onsite in NJ; Mon/Fri remote flexibility)
