Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active New York State RN license (Registered Nurse jobs in NY)
Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Proficient in vaginal exams, circulating C-sections, and recovering spinal anesthesia
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to identify and intervene in life-threatening situations
Knowledge of patient safety protocols and safe lifting practices
Creative problem-solving skills; ability to function well under stress
Must comply with 60-mile radius rule
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns
Perform vaginal exams and assist with labor and delivery procedures
Circulate during C-sections and recover patients from spinal anesthesia
Assess patient needs including clinical, educational, mental, and spiritual aspects
Respond promptly to life-threatening situations
Maintain patient safety and implement safe patient movement practices
Demonstrate leadership and effective delegation within the healthcare team
Communicate clearly with patients, families, and clinical staff
