Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer role will directly contribute to Trust Automation's success by supporting mechanical system design and analysis efforts for precision motion control, power conversion, and intelligence technology products. This role uses conceptual and detailed mechanical design approaches coupled with simulation and analysis to verify designs before hardware is produced. This position supports the assembly and testing of initial engineering build cycles to efficiently transition to internal manufacturing. Positions Requirements
0-4 years of engineering experience outside of academia Minimum Qualifications: BS degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar degree and discipline) Design and analysis experience
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (Solidworks preferred) 2D drawing packages
Experience in application and interpretation of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) Experience with mechanical analysis and FEA/simulation tools
Thermal Structural CFD
Familiarity of Electric motor types and applications Strong mechanical and electromechanical knowledge in the areas of
Actuators Mechanisms Powertrains Structures Tools Fixtures
Knowledge and experience with fabrication/manufacturing methods, including hands-on experience, to aid in design for manufacturing Knowledge of engineering materials and demonstrated experience in material selection. Basic understanding of control system design and system simulation tools (i.e. MATLAB, SIMULINK) Familiarity with industry standards (i.e. ANSI, ASME) and specifications (i.e. MIL-STD) Experience and support of Product Data Management and configuration management. This position may be asked to drive for company purposes during the course of employment. Responsibilities
Mechanical design and development for Trust Automation products and customer specific applications (actuation systems, power systems, electronics enclosures, mechanisms, fixtures, etc.). Project requirement derivation, development, interpretation, and application Conceptual and detailed mechanical-centric design to meet or exceed project requirements. System, sub-system, and individual component level analysis and simulation to verify design in areas including but not limited to structural, thermal, shock, and vibration. System integration and test. CAD design including generation of solid models and detailed technical drawings. Create technical documentation to support multi-level design reviews and manufacturing (i.e. Preliminary and Critical Design Review reports, assembly instructions). Contribute to Trust Automation design and development processes, including peer and DFM/DFT/DFA design reviews. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering team Assist Managers, VPs and executives with project/program planning, specification of product, system application solutions, task prioritization, and risk mitigation. Contribute to technical planning for future product architecture. Contribute to the Trust Automation engineering team knowledge base, bringing a fresh perspective on mechanical design and analysis for motion control, power conversion and intelligence technology systems. Work primarily under technical supervision and/or pre-established guidelines to develop skills while performing project tasks. Physical Requirements
Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person, on the telephone or virtually. Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrist to operate a computer keyboard, calculator or assemble/manufacture intricate items. Seeing to read a variety of materials.
