Senior Process Control Engineer – Avient Corporation – Greenville, NC
Salary: $120,000.00 – $145,000.00 (Full‑time, Mid‑Senior level)
Job Description
The Senior Process Control System Engineer transforms business needs into a process control plan and strategy. Key deliverables include: designing fit‑for‑purpose automation systems, integrating MES/data historian, improving plant stability by eliminating known disturbances, and embedding sustainable OT cyber‑security controls. Key Responsibilities
Serve as the linking pin and facilitator for process, automation, project engineers, and contractors. Maintain process control systems to produce the highest quality product cost‑effectively. Prepare and submit requests for system upgrades and modifications. Act as DCS and Automation liaison for Dyneema sites. Provide expertise to solve high‑level system problems. Identify data‑analysis needs and promote MES and related tools. Professionalize and standardize systems, procedures, and methods for reliability. Develop, support, and implement advanced process control strategies. Mentor junior Process Control Systems and Automation Engineers. Support production through continuous process control system improvements. Comply with all safety and training requirements. Perform other duties as assigned. Authorities
Design, specification, and modification of process control systems. Design, specification, and modification of OT cyber‑security. Recommend equipment/components and negotiate vendor pricing. Approve work permits per DYNPRO SHE DYN 026. Projects or Special Assignments
Operational Excellence Roles. Process Control Automation contact for global Dyneema and corporate resources; lead new plant automation. OT cyber‑security contact for Dyneema and corporate resources. Qualifications
Education and Experience
MS in a related technical field + 5 years in process control and automation; or BS + 7 years; or AA/AS + 8 years; or 10 years total. Advanced knowledge of DCS, SCADA, etc. Strong technical process control support and development skills. Advanced problem‑solving and troubleshooting. Diversified knowledge of automation systems, OT cyber‑security, and multiple engineering specialties. Knowledge of Siemens control systems. Ability to respond to emergencies and work overtime when required. Physical Demands
Standing, sitting, speaking, and listening for extended periods. Walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders. Frequent lifting up to 50 lb. Work in a loud manufacturing environment; requires PPE. Exposure to weather and extreme heat/humidity. About Avient Corporation
